7 signs that your interview went well

Remember how nerve-racking it was facing your last interview? Although you felt some relief after the interview was finally over, the real struggle started a day later. Every job seeker who faces an interview has the same questions afterward. “Did I do well in the interview?” “Are they going to select me?” and “Why is it taking so long?” We understand how frustrating it is to wait a few weeks until you hear back from employers. While you wait for an answer, read this article to identify seven signs that your interview actually went well without you even recognizing it at the time.

1. You got a great vibe from the interviewer

Your gut feelings can be perfectly accurate at times. If you felt a good connection with your interviewer and noticed how easy the conversation was, it is a great sign that the interview went well. If you and your interviewer strayed into casual topics during the interview and identified common interests, that too is a sign of an interview that went well.

2. They talked as if you already have the job

Paying attention to how your interviewer puts things can sometimes reveal whether or not you will be hired. For example, if they say, “Your IT training will be done over the weekend” instead of “New recruits get a two-day IT training,” it means that they already envision you in the job.

3. The interviewer gave you a tour of the office

A hiring manager would not take every candidate on a tour of the company building. If they took you on a tour of the office and showed you where your desk would go, or where the office kitchen is, it means you have a good chance of winning the interview.

4. If more people come to meet you during the interview

It’s a smart idea to keep track of the number of people you meet during your interview. If you started with one interviewer and just as soon as you felt the interview winding up, another person from the company joined you, it is a sign that you performed well. Some interviewers introduce potential employees to other team members just so they can talk.

5. You got asked, “When can you start?”

Interviewers won’t ask this question of candidates that they don’t intend to hire. If you were asked how soon you could start working for them during an interview, it means that you have a good shot at the job.

6. If the interview goes on for a long time

Not every interview takes two hours to complete. Most of the time, the average interview lasts less than 30 minutes. How long your interview should last depends on your particular qualifications and the job for which you are applying. If you only expected the interview to last fifteen minutes and you end up talking for an hour and a half, it is a sign that your interview went well.

7. You notice them trying to pitch you

If the employer is selling themselves to you as a great place to work, they probably want you to work for them. Most interviewers try to attract candidates that they like by pointing out the benefits of the job and the attractive packages they offer.
